PENELOPE CRUZ has been ordered to quit smoking so she can sing in her next movie. The Spanish actress needs to show off her singing voice in Nine - which is directed by Rob Marshall and also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sophia Loren. PENELOPE CRUZ - CRUZ LEARNED TO ACT IN MOTHER'S SALON
PENELOPE CRUZ learned to act by watching women transformed in her mother's hairdressing salon. The Spanish star spent much of her childhood helping out at Encarna Cruz' salon in the capital Madrid. Cruz reveals, "I always say my first acting school was that salon. All those women who'd go in looking for a transformation, trying to look more like the image they had of themselves. So many of them were playing characters."
